At Martin Johnston & Socha we like to keep up-to-date with cases passing through the criminal courts, so we were interested to read that a 62 year old man was recently sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for sexually assaulting three women.

Following a trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, he was convicted of three charges in contravention of Section 3 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act.

During the trial the court heard evidence that he had made inappropriate remarks to, and sexually assaulted the women between July 2011 and October 2012.

Sexual offences and sex crimes are sensitive, complex and have far-reaching implications for both the victim and the accused.

These are among the most difficult cases to defend and require the help of an experienced specialist criminal defence lawyer. Often, the difference between acquittal and conviction is a skilled testing of the prosecution’s evidence. Our experience has given us the skill to handle even the most complicated sexual offences charge.
