New research has found that the number of sexual cyber crimes which are recorded by police has increased dramatically over the last 3 years.

Scotland’s Chief Statistician has recently published its latest figures on the number of recorded crimes in Scotland. 

There were more than 100,000 sexual assaults across the UK in the last year according to official statistics on criminal offences.

Police Scotland statistics has revealed that crime in Scotland has reached a 41-year-low with crimes being at their lowest level since 1974.

Newly published figures have shown that a stark increase in the number of sexual offenders re-offending once they are released from prison. 

Police Scotland have been criticised in the Scottish Parliament for failing to disclose a crime report.

A group of MPs have stated that those arrested for sexual offences have the right to remain anonymous until they are charged. 

The group who were reviewing previous examples of high profile individuals accused stated that there should be a no tolerance policy on police officers leaking information. 

A new law is being debated in the Scottish Parliament, which offers victims of sexual trafficking protection if they are prosecuted for committing crimes they were forced to do.

The Scottish Government is consulting on plans to use GPS satellite tracking to track the whereabouts of sex offenders, including those convicted of sex crimes. It launched the plans this week.
