A 25-year-old man has received a suspended prison sentence after allegedly allowing himself to be towed on roller skates by a car at speeds of up to 70mph, reports the Telegraph.

He appeared to be wearing no safety equipment, and was holding on to the driver of the car through an open window as he drove along a busy road in Grimsby.

Police were alerted to the incident after video footage of the stunt was placed on the internet.

The man admitted aiding and abetting the driver of the car to drive dangerously, and received a 20-week suspended sentence and a two year supervision order. He was also banned from driving for a year.

The driver of the car was initially charged with dangerous driving, but this was subsequently discontinued because of a lack of evidence, reports the Telegraph.
