Widow Secures £1.5 million Damages After Husband’s Murder

A widow has secured a £1.5 million settlement following her husband's murder at the hands of her brother in law.

Sued for Damages

Saimah Siddique used a court order against her brother in law, convicted killer Mohammed Azam Siddique, after he was found guilty, along with two others, for gunning down her husband, Toby, in a flat in Forres Drive in October 2010.

Mohammed Siddique had been sentenced to life and ordered to serve 25 years, but a court settlement means he is is now liable to pay compensation to Saimah Siddique and her children following the death of her husband.

A deal has since been struck between the two parties, with Mr Siddique paying the settlement in full.

Unusual Case

Mrs Siddique's counsel Simon Di Rollo QC said:"It is unusual case, in the sense that one does not come across allegations of murder in civil proceedings."
