Police Fail to Solve Crime 15 Crimes in Scottish Parliament in a Year

Police Scotland have failed to solve a single crime in the Scottish Parliament for the second time in as many years.

Crimes inside the Scottish Parliament consisted of theft from offices, thefts of cabinets and desks from offices that had not been locked. One of the major issues was that there was a lag in the reporting of crimes, with the theft on an Ipad taking two years to be reported to officers.

Theft Within Parliament

The statistics, which came from a Freedom of Information Act showed that there were 15 crimes within the Scottish Parliament in the last year, but none had been solved. The most common crime was theft with money and mobile phones being stolen.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “All reports of crime at the Scottish Parliament are investigated thoroughly by our officers based within the building. Any offences that are detected are reported to the procurator fiscal.”

A Scottish Parliament spokesman said: “The Parliament is a public building that attracts around 400,000 visitors a year. Any criminal activity around the Parliament is a matter for the police unit at Holyrood or Police Scotland to investigate.”

A spokesman for TaxpayerScotland, the taxpayers’ advocacy group, said: “Spending on security at the Parliament building has rocketed in the past few years. Clearly our tax money has gone into high-profile anti-disturbance and security systems rather than down-to-earth boilerplate policing.
